About

A communications leader built in the newsroom and the boardroom.

Background & Philosophy

I am an Emmy-winning journalist, communications strategist, and nonprofit leader with more than 15 years of experience helping audiences understand complex issues through stories rooted in dignity, context, and care. I began my career in local news because I did not often see storylines that reflected the communities I came from, and when they did appear, they were too often narrow or stereotypical. That early experience shaped my belief that narrative power matters, especially for communities whose stories are frequently overlooked, simplified, or told by others.

I went on to work in national news, where I developed strong editorial judgment, crisis instincts, and a deep understanding of how the media cycle influences which stories are told, when they are told, and whose expertise is centered. My work taught me that people closest to an issue should not be treated as supporting characters in someone else's narrative. They should be recognized as subject matter experts in their own lives and communities.

Today, I bring that approach to mission-driven communications. As Head of Media, Communications, and PR for the Latinx MBA Association, I lead narrative strategy, executive visibility, media relations, internal communications, and member storytelling for a national nonprofit advancing Latino leadership in business. I am passionate about making narrative strategy empowering rather than transactional, helping organizations tell stories with communities rather than simply about them.

I am at my best in the moments that shape an organization's trajectory: launches, partnerships, crises, and the deliberate daily work of building authority. I have stood up crisis playbooks, led embargoed launches into tier-one business press, ghostwritten executive thought leadership, and trained on-air talent for national syndication.

I also serve on the board of Westside Infant-Family Network Los Angeles, supporting mission-driven work focused on low-income and immigrant families, young children, mental health, and community well-being. I hold a BA in Journalism from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Pepperdine University, bringing newsroom agility, strategic communications leadership, data fluency, and cultural insight to my work.

My Approach

I lead with listening.

Before strategy or copy, I get to know an organization from the inside out: its culture, leadership, audience, and the story already driving the work.

I work as a partner.

I sit with leadership teams, challenge assumptions with care, and identify what makes the organization distinct enough to be remembered.

I build for the long arc.

Campaigns end. Communications functions compound. I focus on the systems, relationships, and voice that keep working long after launch.

I lead through change.

Repositioning a brand or relaunching a stalled initiative takes more than a new message — it takes new processes, clear metrics, and a team that trusts the plan. I build the systems that make change stick.
